About Us
The Friends of St Nick was formed by a group of friends in 1992 with dual purpose of honoring those people who have served the town of Norwood and its citizens, while at the same time, raising support for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. We unashamedly borrowed the concept from our friends in Walpole, the Friends of St. Patrick.
Each year we select a member of the Norwood community as our Person of the Year. Each year over 400 people come together, the second Friday of December at the Four Points, to recognize this outstanding individual(s) that has made significant impact on the town of Norwood. By now, there is little doubt that Norwood enjoys an event that toasts its special people. From the beginning, our goal has always been to combine the best of both worlds. The Friends of St Nick is committed to ringing in the holiday season with good friends and good cheer for a good cause.
In our 30-year history, we have raised over half million dollars for Dana Farber Cancer Institute through our annual luncheon in conjunction with our raffle, auction and program profits. Donations are critical to our continued success and each year we continue to be blessed by the support of our local businesses and friends who tirelessly and selflessly donate their time, money and goods to our event.
Although all of our original board members have now retired, our mission and focus is stronger than ever. Anyone of them would tell you they never expected their little group to have become what it has but each one, if they could, would tell you they couldn’t be prouder of all we’ve done and will continue to do.
